Dynamic X-Ray

For many spinal conditions it is important to have more than just a static picture of what is going on. In these cases dynamic x-rays of the spine often prove invaluable in assessing the patient.

A dynamic x-ray usually involves 2 pictures of the neck being bent forwards and backwards, or 2 pictures of the lower back with the patient either sitting or lying flat, and then standing up.

These dynamic x-rays show how the bones in the spine are moving and if there is any instability that would affect the type of surgery needed.
